Pollination… did you know?

Grains are primarily pollinated by the wind, but fruits, nuts and vegetables are pollinated by bees.

Seventy out of the top 100 human food crops, which supply about 90 percent of the world’s nutrition are pollinated by bees!

Veggies that need pollinators all the time are:

  • Tree fruits
  • Cucumbers
  • Melons and watermelons
  • Berries

But what happens when pollination is not done by bees?
In this case we need more wind, other insects and human intervention.

For example in China pollination is done by hand or so called mechanical pollination where humans are helping the pollen to circulate by using a long brush, ensuring crops growth and can be harvested.

There are several alternatives for pollination but at PrimSource we favour pollination by bees.

Keep in mind bees are found in clean, unpolluted areas, meaning the crops harvested in those areas are pure!
